The Dirndl: The Most Flattering Dress For Any Woman

If you’ve been following along here for some time, you probably know how much I love to wear a Dirndl. I have already mentioned in this post that I got a very special one for my birthday from my parents last year, and since then I basically don’t miss out on any occasion to wear it.
Thankfully, there are plenty of events and festivities to wear it to in summer. Sometimes I even wear it just because I feel like it (also because Patrick loves to wear his Lederhosen on a regular basis in summer, and it’s a cute match.) Additionally, when it comes to the question “what to wear?” for most festive occasions like christenings or family gatherings, the Dirndl is always a safe choice in Salzburg. Not to mention the various “Kirchtage” in summer…
In winter however, the chances to wear a Dirndl are rather small. Although it’s also something you could wear for Christmas for example, wearing a Dirndl just like that for everyday life is rather uncomfortable due to the weather conditions.
Therefor, my excitement for the upcoming Wildschütz Ball this weekend is even bigger. It’s the best excuse for all girls to slip into their Dirndl, and for the boys to put on their Lederhosen to have an awesome night together full of fun and dancing. I have already been there last year and I particularly love how Austrian traditions are interpreted in a modern and cool way at this event.
Liane and Reinhard from Trachten Forstenlechner invited me over to put together an outfit for Wildschütz – quite a tricky task, since they have such a vast selection of beautiful Dirndls, aprons and accessories in their shop in Salzburg. After trying on several different styles, my choice was a beautiful dark blue linen dress, with a pink linen apron and a cool cape that adds a modern twist. Also a mustard yellow apron caught my eye right away – it’s something totally different and I think it’s gonna be a big hit this summer.

If you’re still looking for the perfect outfit for Wildschütz Ball, or just for a stunning Dirndl, I can highly recommend to check out Trachten Forstenlechner.

I do not understand you Austrians. If every woman wore a dirndl, there would not be any more ugliness. (Vivienne Westwood)
