Steal Or Splurge: The perfect dress for a wedding
When you see brides and grooms walking around the famous Mirabellgarten in Salzburg you know wedding season has officially started. Beyond question Mirabell is definitely one of the most beautiful places for a civil wedding in Austria – not just because of the prestigious saloon the ceremony is conducted. Also the garden itself is simply stunning and makes the perfect backdrop for a little shooting. That topic being mentioned, also the big question about what to wear as a guest to a wedding is super relevant again. Everyone who has ever been invited to a wedding can probably relate to problem: Dressing for a wedding can be quite tricky. Dresses obviously shouldn’t be white, they shouldn’t be too short or revealing, they should be elegant yet you should feel like yourself in them… the list goes on. The dresses I saw most on wedding guests last year definitely were by Mr. Selfportrait – no wonder, they are absolutely gorgeous! However, being invited to a wedding can be quite the costly thing anyways, so spending over 300 € for a dress might not be an option for everyone.
So you can probably tell how big my excitement was when I saw a super similar (and super affordable) version of the famous Azaelea dress online. Since I splurged on the Azalea dress for my birthday last year, I couldn’t resist ordering the steal version of it to see if there’s a big difference between the dresses – except for the fact that it’s a third of the price.
MY RÉSUMÉ:
First things first: The NA-KD dress is definitely an amazing steal option! It has the perfect length: The nude underdress ends approximately 10 cm above the knee, while the crochet dress end approximately 15 cm above the ankle. The top is super snug until the waist line, from which it then falls down in a slight A-line. The dress itself is very well made, and the crochet fabric seems to be of high quality. It’s firm and thick, and very nicely processed. The only noticeable difference is the lining of the two dresses: While the lining of the Selfportrait dress is composed of Polyester and Elasthane, the lining of the NA-KD dress is solely made of Polyester. Except for the fact that the lining of the Selfportrait dress appears to be a bit thicker and robust, there’s no big difference though. Also the lace used for the two dresses is different: NA-KD uses lace made of Polyester, Selfportrait uses Guipure lace, which is hardly noticeable for the eye though. One more thing to mention though: The underdress of the Selfportrait dress is quite short, and I’ve heard from taller friends of mine that this can be quite tricky (I’m 1.72 and it’s fine for me). For both dresses however, I recommend to order it one size smaller. Both dresses have to be quite tight around your chest to ensure everything stays in place.
As far as I am concerned, I think the NA-KD dress is in any case the perfect choice for you if you want an outstanding and special dress for a wedding without having to spend a fortune.

SPLURGE VERSIONS:
Ohhh das Kleid ist ja traumhaft schön. ich mag solche Kleider sehr, aber besitze leider noch keins :-*
Melanie / http://www.goldzeitblog.de
jaa ich finde sie auch mega schön! Perfekt für festliche Anlässe im Sommer 🙂
Liebe Nina,
Liebe Grüße,
Nina
Hi Nina,
Ist die Farbe beige oder pink?
Hi Steffi, die Farbe heißt bei NA-KD pink 🙂 Liebe Grüße, Nina
