Golden Hour
So this is what happens when your boyfriend is a photographer: There is this special time during the day which photographers refer to as “golden hour”. It’s a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky. I’m sure you know those photos that just have some kind of magic quality to them? There is something about them that makes you feel happy… Well, as I’ve learned, often that magical feel is because of light. Natural light, whether it’s window light, shade, direct sun or backlighting. But there is one type of light that rules above all others; the king of lights so to say… Golden light. It’s warm, soft, dimensional and just magical! It adds this certain kind of look to photos that can’t be replicated no matter how much of a photoshop rockstar you are. So, when you’re with a photographer and golden hour kicks in, no matter what plans or appointments you have – cancel them. That’s exactly what happened last week when Patrick and me were on the way home from work and I could see the excitement in his face when he saw the beautiful scenery. Of course we had to stop and take some pictures. Here’s the outcome:
