Pleated skirt love affair
There are fashion trends that come and go, catch your eye and leave your mind quickly again. And then, there are trends that seem to follow you wherever you go. To me, pleated skirts are of this kind. I’m not sure whether it’s right to refer to them as a trend, since trends usually fade – and as far as I’m concerned pleated skirts are here to stay.
I remember having a pleated skirt when I was a little girl. Since I was very much into ballet when I was a kid, I obviously loved everything pleated and with best case – with lots of tulle. So maybe my love for this specific kind of clothing has its roots deep down in my childhood. But one thing is for certain: My love for those skirts went sky high when I realized how convenient they are!
They don’t need ironing and they don’t crinkle, which basically makes them the best travel companions ever. Also, they are super versatile – I love pairing them with sneakers and a sweatshirt for a day in the city, or with heels and a silk camisole for the night. No matter if you wear them to the office, to run some errands or to festive events: A pleated skirt won’t let you down.
When I spotted this rosé gold stunner last week there was no way around it. The material is rather robust, which makes it perfect for fall as well. I’ve been wearing the skirt to Kathi’s civil wedding last weekend already, and then just kept the outfit on for a little stroll in the city. And secretly, I can’t wait to wear it with tights, a winter pullover and heavy boots. But for now, I’ll enjoy it with flats, light blouses and an iced coffee in my hand.
