Feeling (Baby) Blue

With an upcoming wedding there are a million tasks to do, and my head feels like it has way too many tabs open most of the time. Although we’re very lucky to be working with an amazing wedding planner who helps us with coordinating everything, there are still so many things you have to think about which are not necessarily within the scope of work of a wedding planner. Or, truth be told: Tasks you simply want to do yourself because you enjoy them very much. One of said tasks is the hunt for the perfect dress for the mother of the bride (aka my Mamsi).

Never would I have thought that finding the right dress to wear to a wedding would be such a big deal. And I’m not even talking about my own dress right now… If you’ve been a bride already, you probably know that finding bridesmaid dresses which don’t cost a fortune is almost a mission impossible. Turns out, finding a dress for my Mom was a similar challenge – but a happy one, that is! Because it meant I got to browse through all my favorite (online & offline) shops to help my Mom find the dress of her dreams for my wedding. She had a clear vision of how the dress should look like, and long sleeves was one of the requirements. Believe me when I tell you that I’ve most probably seen all dresses from here to L.A. that have long sleeves and are somewhat appropriate for a festive-but-not-too-elegant wedding. Long story short: We found my Mom’s dress of her dreams via The Outnet (which is one of my go to places for the best fashion deals and you HAVE TO check it out if you don’t know it yet). I loved seeing her face when the dress finally arrived. She’s a little happy camper now and I can’t wait to see her

However, you know how they say you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince charming? Well, let’s just say we had to try on many, many dresses before we found THE ONE. The downside: Some of those dresses were quite tricky to return, or not worth returning due to high shipping costs etc. The upside: Since we had to keep one dress in particular that just wasn’t worth returning, I offered to step in and give the dress a worthy new home (totally selfless, I know!). Now, this is the story about how this gorgeous baby blue Réalisation Par silk dress came into my life and will most definitely be a loyal companion for many years and many memorable occasions.
